It is an organization which promotes low impact tourism outside of the traditional ideas of "mass" tourism, together with organised trips or short stays either for cultural or personal fulfilment. Genio del Bosco was launched on Elba Island in1983, and began to operate initially in the region of the Tuscan Archipelago, the inland areas and along the Maremma coast of Tuscany. Today offers trips to discover the most interesting nature and culture places in all of Tuscany along the most interesting destinations in Italy.

The name Genio comes from an Etruscan remain found in the Vulci Necropolis in the Maremma area which depicts the abduction of Ercole's wife Dejanira, by the centaur Nesso, a divine being of the wood, and our Genio was helping at the scene. Our philosophy and working methods want to work with tourism in a way to observe and appreciate nature and culture, to understand, respect and honour it.
